Insomnia

It’s always the middle of the night when one can’t sleep that great ideas come to mind.

I wish I had my Iceland journal with me, so I could finish my story.

Then it would make me feel less guilty about starting the next one (the exact way I seem to read books by the way).

Firstly I’m hungry, but it’s 2.30 in the morning and I’m sleeping on someone’s couch.  So I don’t really feel like I can go scavenging for a midnight snack.  I’m pretty sure this is just bored hunger.

Secondly, tomorrow (or today) my friend who lives in Mongolia is coming to visit.  This is exciting because I absolutely love that sentence (she lives in fricking Mongolia!).  Actually tell a lie, she’s just about to start work in Costa Rica now.  I’m seriously in the wrong job.

And thirdly, tomorrow (the actual tomorrow) I’M GOING TO NORWAY!

This is exciting because I desperately need a new project. My new travel bud (super awesome virtuoso musician – this makes me super awesome by association) and I will be hitting up Oslo-Norway in a Nutshell (tour inclusive of fjord and the inspiration for my trip)-Bergen (inclusive of Grieg and the inspiration of his trip).

The question is – what do I bring?! Is it going to be freezing or actually summer?  Do I bring all my hiking stuff or go layers?  And since we are travelling budget airline after budget airline it’s all about the hand baggage.

Top tip – Sadly the new boat for the fjord cruise isn’t operational yet, so if you’re booking the tour save yourself the hassle and just book the old one.  Now I have to go chasing a refund.  Brilliant.

Here’s to counting sheep, or whatever it is that actually works for insomniacs…
